SheSheds: Redefining the Man Cave (Part 1)

First, there were actual caves. Then, came the man caves. Now, busy women everywhere need their own quiet reprieve from the world. A place where they can recharge after a day of distance learning.  And so, the backyard space known as the “SheShed” was born.

In an age where most women would say they don’t get enough alone time, this quiet space “SheShed” space is picking up traction across the states. Whether it’s used as a creative space to work, a cozy space to read, or a hideaway from the hustle and bustle, the SheSheds prove that you don’t need a lot of space to have an amazing backyard getaway.

Whatever your personal style is, you can design your SheShed to fit your needs! Here are our tips on how you can create the perfect getaway from what we’re seeing…

4 ways to make your SheShed your own

  1. Define the purpose of your space. The point of a SheShed is to have a quiet space that allows you to recharge! This space can even be a place to enjoy a new hobby. Figure out what your space will be used for so it can be a reflection of you. Here are some great ideas to get the creative juices flowing.
  1. Clean out your shed or garage. Have you conveniently been “forgetting” to clean out that cluttered shed or overpacked garage? Creating your very own SheShed is the perfect motivation for finally getting it done. Go through all of those old tools and boxes and throw away what you haven’t used in years! Even better, donate what you don’t want and organize the rest in clear storage. If you don’t have a shed, check out your local Home Depot for different options. They range from $1,200 to $7,000.
  1. Give your new space a fresh coat of paint. There isn’t anything a fresh coat of paint can’t do to revive a space. Taking your shed or garage from ordinary to brand new starts with painting the interior. Painting in a calming color, like light blue, or a feminine shade of purple will instantly give it new life. Is the space feeling too small? Paint it bright white and instantly your space will feel bigger. Check out this shed paint makeover for inspiration.
  1. Time to decorate: Decorating your space isn’t about spending lots of money. It’s about creating a space that feels relaxed and purposeful. We hear Facebook MarketPlace is a great place to  shop for unexpected and inexpensive finds to make it your own.
